To celebrate, promote, and document 70 Rare Books, Special Collections, Archives: An Anniversary Exhibition, this catalogue was commissioned. Inspired by the brutalist architecture of the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, the design combines raw and humble materials with refined details: a cardboard cover foil-stamped in soft light copper, an exposed spine sewn with white thread, and a translucent vellum bellyband enclosing an uncoated interior. Together, these elements create a tactile, honest object that honours the striking space housing Canada’s largest collection of rare books.
